WHAT ARE REFRACTIVE ERRORS?

_

As light enters the eye, it is focused precisely on the retina – the light-sensitive layer that lines the back of the eye. In the absence of such a focus, a refractive error occurs and vision becomes blurred. Refractive errors are imperfections in the eye’s ability to focus.

The common refractive errors are:

  1. Myopia, or Nearsightedness
  2. Hyperopia, or Farsightedness
  3. Astigmatism

TREATMENT OF THE REFRACTIVE ERRORS

_
  • Spectacles or contact lenses: To correct the refractive error patients should wear the Spectacles or contact lenses of the no. prescribed by their doctor. Always get your refraction done by a doctor only.
    • There is no alternative to spectacles/lenses until you reach a certain age and the spectacle no. do not change for at least 6 months to 1 year.
    • We, at VISION+ Eye Hospital, have the latest and ideal automated machine to check for any refractive error. And all tests are done with experts only.

  • LASIK Treatment:
    • LASIK (or Laser-Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis) is the most modern surgical procedure for correcting vision problems like myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.
    • This is an advanced laser vision correction technique in which the curvature of the cornea is reshaped using a laser that is capable of removing tissues with precision up to a micron level.
    • A Laser procedure is SAFE, PROVEN, and TRUSTED. It takes only 10 min to “change your life” and get rid of your glasses.

  • Phakic IOL:
    • The Phakic IOL (ICL/IPCL) is an FDA-approved non-laser treatment for refractive error in which IOL is implanted in front of the normal lens, without reshaping the cornea in a candidate not ideal or those found unfit for LASIK, PRK, etc.
    • Each thin, foldable lens is uniquely tailored to your eye and custom-made for you.
    • IPCL is like a soft contact lens, single piece posterior chamber phakic IOL, which can be inserted into the eye through a sub 2.8 mm incision.
